Descript Promo Code 2026: 33% Off Annual, No Code Needed
Editorial StaffLast updated: October 26, 2026Get The Best Descript Deal
Descript's pricing page and help center showed no public Descript promo code on 26 October 2026. The saving anyone can take today is annual billing, which takes Hobbyist from $24 to $16 a month. Students, educators and 501(c)(3) nonprofits can apply for the EDU/NFP plan at $8 a month, billed annually.
The three Descript prices worth knowing
None of these needs a code. Each button goes to Descript's own site, and our link doesn't change the price you pay.
Descript Free
Free plan
Text-based editing and a first try of Descript's AI tools, in Descript's own description. Enough to edit one of your own recordings before paying.
- After
- $0
Hobbyist, billed annually
Annual billing
One person, 10 media hours and 400 AI credits a month, and watermark-free 1080p export.
- After
- $16/mo billed annually ($192/yr), or $24 per month
EDU / NFP
Apply first
Every Hobbyist feature for students, educators and 501(c)(3) nonprofits, with up to 3 editor seats per Drive.
- After
- $8/mo billed annually, or $12 per month
I'd start on Free and run a short real episode through it before paying, since Free caps media at 60 minutes a month. If it sticks, annual Hobbyist is the cheapest standard paid plan for someone who doesn't qualify for EDU/NFP. Starting monthly costs you little, because Descript applies a later switch to annual right away and credits the unused time.
Best Current Deal
33% off Hobbyist with annual billing — No code needed. Choose annual on Descript's pricing page and Hobbyist drops from $24 to $16 a month, or $192 for the year. Creator drops from $35 to $24 (31% off) and Business from $65 to $50 per person (23% off).

What Descript Does
Descript edits audio and video through the transcript, or as its pricing page puts it, you edit video by editing a doc, which makes it quick to cut a podcast episode or pull clips from a webinar. Its help center also documents an API and an MCP server for anyone wiring it into an AI workflow. If you came looking for a Descript promo code, the money you can save sits in the billing toggle and the education plan.
The search results for this term, pulled on 26 October 2026, are coupon sites with percentage badges and long code lists. Descript's own help page on promo codes sets tighter rules than those lists suggest. A code goes in at checkout, works once, applies only to a new account moving from Free to a paid plan, and you get one per purchase. Some codes expire. So an existing paid subscriber has no code route at all, whatever a coupon site shows.

Prices from Descript's pricing page on 26 October 2026, per person per month. Annual billing saves 33% on Hobbyist, 31% on Creator and 23% on Business. Descript's toggle says up to 35%, and the plan prices work out to those three figures. Moving from monthly to annual applies immediately with your unused time credited. Plan refunds close 48 hours after the invoice date, and Descript gives no prorated refund for unused time after that.
Descript student and nonprofit discount
Descript's help center calls the EDU/NFP plan the only Descript plan sold at a discounted rate. It costs $12 per editor a month on monthly billing or $8 on annual billing, which comes to $96 a year. You get every Hobbyist feature and up to 3 editor seats per Drive.
It's open to students, educators and administrators at accredited schools, and to 501(c)(3) nonprofits or the equivalent. Create a free account with your school or nonprofit email, add a payment method (Descript doesn't charge it yet) and submit the application form. Once Descript approves you by email, switch the Drive to EDU/NFP from the Plan tab in App Settings.
How to Get This Deal
- Open Descript's pricing page — Use the button on this page. Our link adds no discount, and you see the same prices Descript shows everyone.
- Start on the free plan — Sign up for free and edit one real recording before you pay. Descript only accepts promo codes from new accounts upgrading from Free, so starting here also keeps a code usable.
- Pick a plan and switch to annual — Hobbyist goes from $24 to $16 a month and Creator from $35 to $24. Annual is one payment up front, $192 or $288.
- Add a Descript-issued code if you have one — At checkout click Add promo code, enter it, click Apply, then Save changes. You get one code per purchase, each code works once, and some expire.
- Ask for a refund inside 48 hours if it's wrong — Descript refunds plans within 48 hours of the invoice date and editor seats within 7 days. Send the request to support from your account email. Top-ups aren't refundable.
