What Squarespace Does
Squarespace bundles hosting, templates, SSL, blogging and analytics into one subscription, and it has pushed hard into AI since 2025. Blueprint AI builds a first draft of the whole site — layout, palette, fonts and copy — from a short questionnaire, and the editor will generate or rewrite text in blog posts, product descriptions, email campaigns, meta descriptions and image alt text.
The part worth knowing before you pay: text generation costs nothing. Squarespace meters AI with credits, but only two features spend them — Image Studio, which generates and edits images and removes backgrounds, and AI Visibility, which tracks whether ChatGPT and Gemini mention your site for prompts you choose. Everything textual is unmetered.
The ceiling is the API. Squarespace's developer platform covers commerce — orders, products, inventory, signed webhooks — and its official MCP server is domain-only. There is no content API, so an agent can run your store but cannot publish a post. If your workflow depends on drafting elsewhere and pushing in programmatically, this is the wrong platform.
